Circus Roncalli in Germany has adopted a new kind of act that involves animals, but it’s not what you think! Instead of living animals, the circus has holograms.

Germany – In honour of Throwback Thursday we have some exciting news to share. It is common knowledge that performing animals in circuses is a cruel and dated practice. Many countries have officially banned animals from circuses which has left a gap in the entertainment line-up.

Some circuses still operate with animals, but we hope this will inspire them and prove that animals are not needed to put on a fantastic show. The Roncalli circus was founded in Germany in 1976 and wanted to keep with tradition but also keep up with modern times. That is what inspired them to develop the traditional circus experience in an imaginative, creative way.

The Roncalli Circus uses holograms to add animals to their performances. With the use of eleven projectors, the circus can have performing animals such as elephants, wild horses monkeys and even fish. The holograms are very realistic but add an exciting flair to the show.

The circus made history by becoming the first to replace real animals with holograms. The switch to this technology not only means animals are spared a life of cruelty, but it also means the circus can save money as they do not have to provide feed and transport for all the animals.

The new act was revealed in June of 2018 and has become a firm favourite. Circus Roncalli is proof that adapting to the times can still be a benefit. Hopefully, their success will inspire others also to adopt new ways of delivering good entertainment.
