Little Cancer Warriors

The last place anyone wants to be on Christmas is a hospital ward. That’s why Cupcakes of Hope is inviting you to help deliver joy and magic to little warriors who can’t be home this festive season as they fight their bravest battles.

South Africa (27 November 2025) – If you’ve ever wondered what the best way to celebrate Christmas would be, we’d like to suggest: making a difference and spreading joy!

For example, imagine the smile of a child fighting cancer opening a Christmas Care Bag filled with love, toys, and hope.

This season, Cupcakes of Hope is calling on the public to spread this Christmas joy to little warriors who need it most. This festive season, these hope-dealers are aiming to gift 600 care bags, delivering Christmas love in hospital wards.

For a child undergoing cancer treatment, the hospital can feel isolating, especially during the festive season when they cannot be in the comfort of their home with loved ones. The Cupcakes of Hope Care Bag initiative helps transform this challenging environment, offering a moment of pure, unexpected joy that cuts through the fear and loneliness of being hospitalised over Christmas.

Cupcakes of Hope hosts several events during the year and is an entirely community-driven non-profit organisation that aims to raise awareness on childhood cancer and funds for families in need of medical assistance.

So far, the charity has received 150 sponsored gifts – tokens of love and solidarity that will reaffirm to these young warriors that they are seen, remembered, and cared for by a community far beyond the ward.

“Last year we delivered just over 600 Christmas Gifts to 21 paediatric oncology wards across South Africa, and this year we hope to do the same again,” says Sandy of Cupcakes of Hope.

You can get involved by sponsoring R200 for a hospital care bag filled with toys, treats, stationery and more, thereby sharing the love. To sponsor a bag, click here.
