The Grace Factory – Vaal is hoping to collect wool donations for their elderly donors who support them with beautifully knitted baby items.

Vaal, South Africa (20 June 2024)—The Vaal chapter of the Grace Factory is absolutely beloved by its community. Many of the older residents in the area are firmly committed to knitting the most beautiful baby sets for new moms. Many of these creative pensioners do what they can with the funds they have, but the team has come up with a great way to keep these knitters busy and not out of pocketthey need wool!

The team shared this week that they get the most beautiful knitted items and hope to collect wool for the older knitters as a way to give back. So if you have wool to share, you can reach them here.

“If you have any wool you do not use, please consider donating it to us. We have many elderly people who knit/crochet for us and we would happily pass on the wool to them.”

“We receive many beautiful knitted, crocheted, sewn items made with much love by so many kind and generous people. Some people are known to us and some are unknown to us. However the avenue your items reach us, we are ALWAYS so honoured that there are many who are out there making much-needed baby items for us. We receive beanies, booties, jerseys, leggings, soft toys, reusable nursing pads and so much more.
Every item you make reaches us and we make use of every item. Thank you for making our cause a priority. You can see the love, kindness and energy that goes into every item made by you.”

The Grace Factory, an NPO that gives practical assistance to moms and babies in need during the first few weeks of motherhood and infancy, stresses the importance of doing so. The organisation packs the items into gift sets and delivers them to new moms in government hospitals all over South Africa. The packs consist of basic necessities such as clothes, blankets, toiletries, nappies and a few things for mom.

They team are also hosting a packing day on the 20th of July 2024, so if you would like to join, you can find out more here.
