Gail and Howard Gabrielse adopted Harley from DARG; DARG has looked after him for the last 8 years while he has waited for his forever home, now they share his happy adoption story – from his own pawspective.
Hout Bay, South Africa (12 June 2023) – This is one of those stories that caught us unawares. You know when sometimes you see something and don’t quite register or understand what you saw until you are crying? We saw the picture of Harley and his new mom Gail laying on their bed and paused to read the blurb shared by DARG, the next minute, the tears were rolling!
We think the reason for the tears from nowhere was that the DARG team shared Harley’s story from his own point of view. We could actually feel his love and joy.
“I waited almost 8 years. Now I get to spend each day with her. She’s there in the morning when I open my eyes and she’s there when I go to sleep in my warm bed she made for me. I took a while to adjust being out of DARG but my mum was always there to reassure me, to let me know I was safe and it was going to be OK. I heard there’s something called Mother’s Day. Well for me, every day is mother’s day because I have the BEST MUM in the world!” ~ Harley
The team shared his story to give everyone a positive start to the week. Harley arrived at DARG as a puppy but sadly was never adopted. Many times, he was visited but he was always overlooked for another dog. After eight years, Harley had spent his entire life with the DARG team.
Seeing him finally being adopted is the most heartwarming thing we found online today.
“Our precious boy has officially been adopted!!!! Harley and The DARG Team wish you a positive week filled with endless possibilities.”
