A documentary which is launching The Heart of Cape Town movement will be premiered this week to over 900 international and local delegates.

Cape Town, South Africa (06 May 2024) – A movement is being born in Cape Town this week, the 6th to the 10th of May 2024; the Heart of Cape Town will be unveiled in a documentary filmed and produced by Eric Gauss and Odette Van Rensburg of ‘Dogs on the Run Production’ and it will highlight how wire hearts made locally, have the power to change lives.

The premier of the documentary, on Wednesday, 8 May 2024, at 1.00 pm is the official launch of The Heart of Cape Town movement. It will be taking place at We Are Africa, premiering to over 900 delegates from around the world.

Talented local wire artist Laston Sachikonye and his team have created the most beautiful pieces out of wire, including hearts of all sizes and colours. Thanks to donors of Uthando South Africa, thousands of these beautiful illuminating hearts are being distributed to a broad range of people all over South Africa, including community projects, activists, artists, educators, school children, politicians and celebrities.

The Heart of Cape Town poignantly captures a few of these amazing South Africans who speak from their heart, after receiving their wire heart. The heart symbolises wisdom for the world in truth, forgiveness and reconciliation.

During recent international trade shows held in Cape Town, International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) and World Travel Market Africa (WTM), hundreds of little hearts were gifted to attendees from all over the world. Attached to each heart is a tag with the website of “The Heart of Cape Town” which contains a powerful and potent message of PEACE and LOVE for the world.

This week, the Heart of Cape Town is taking centre stage at We Are Africa with an installation covered in hearts, and many hundreds of people from all over world receiving little hearts.

The hope is for this social business, to become a source of income for those working with the non-profit, Uthando (Love) South Africa, thus providing sustainable income to vital community development projects at a time when funding is diminishing for so many.

The movement is only just beginning, but it has the power to empower! Watch the trailer for The Heart of Cape Town below:
