While rescue dog Chico lived at the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa, he became a hero and donated blood to dogs in need – now he has a forever home.
Cape Town, South Africa (04 April 2022) – The Animal Welfare Society of South Africa (AWSSA), based in Phillipi, Cape Town, take in animals that have been neglected or abused. They recently shared an update about their hero dog Chico who was rescued from a harrowing situation.
Chico’s story starts out quite sad. He was found hanging by a rope from a staircase and left for dead but was thankfully found just in time. Chico was taken to AWSSA, where his rehabilitation was started.
During his stay at the welfare society, Chico became a hero by donating blood to help save another dog’s life. This heroic act must have earned him some extra points because not long afterwards, a family came and adopted Chico. They have given him the very best life after everything he has endured.
“He now joins a beautiful family and has already made himself at home.
We will miss Chico’s smiley face every day, but we wish him and the new family all the best on their new journey.”
You can spot Chico on the laps of his new family below; his smile is further proof that he really is living his best life!
