Because when we have hope, we have everything!

Johannesburg, South Africa (27 April 2020) – To celebrate Freedom Day, GRID Worldwide created a video celebrating South Africa… hoping to bring back optimism to everyone in the country!

Freedom Day is a public holiday in South Africa celebrated on 27 April. It celebrates freedom and commemorates the first post-apartheid elections held on that day in 1994. The elections were the first non-racial national elections where everyone of voting age of over 18 from any race group, including foreign citizens permanently resident in South Africa, were allowed to vote. Previously, under the apartheid regime, non-whites, in general, had only limited rights to vote while indigenous black South Africans had no voting rights whatsoever.

The video was originally created in 2018 but as the camera pans and shows people together – asking for and celebrating freedom in our country – we realised that it is more relevant than ever.

Seize this moment of hope in the lives of our people!

“Let’s not forget about what the cost was. We have had so much adversity and many triumphs. Let’s never forget our struggle for freedom. But let’s love our diversity and let’s move ahead with intention.

We are a great nation, never allow insecurity to cloud our resolve. Towards greatness. Share your own love for our country.”

#HopeJoanna is a beautiful video created to do just that! Remind us of our past while being hopeful for the future! It’s more than just a video. It’s a social movement. And they are inviting every South African, to embark on this renewed journey of hope and optimism that we are experiencing in our country.

“We’ve all experienced the highs and lows of our beautiful South Africa. Even through the toughest of times, we have come out triumphant because we as a nation are resilient.

And one thing always rings true, that when we have hope, we have everything.”
