How To Watch The Super Bowl Halftime Show in South Africa

Just in case you want to watch the Super Bowl Halftime show… we got the deets.

Global (09 February 2026) – For many South Africans, the Super Bowl Halftime show can feel very far away. It’s American, it’s not on our local TV, and unless you’re awake at a strange hour or actively looking for it, you can miss the cultural moment entirely. But this year’s performance is one worth watching.

And I think it’s all because of the message behind it.

Bad Bunny, often called the “King of Latin Trap”, has played a massive role in taking Spanish-language music into the global mainstream. I’d never even heard of him until early last year. Then one song, DtMF, started appearing all over TikTok (in January 2025). People were sharing photos of loved ones they’d lost. I joined in.

The lyrics, “Debí darte más besos y abrazos las veces que pude.” Translated to English means: “I should have taken more photos when I had you, I should have given you more kisses and hugs when I had the chance.”

Cue the tears. I don’t speak much spanish but that song cuts deep.

Fast forward to 2026 and the halftime show pulled together so much more than music. Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin joined the set. And I believe it worked beautifully. More importantly, the messaging was even more special. And important.

Right at the end, Bad Bunny grabs a football that reads “Together We Are America”. He’s surrounded by people holding flags from across the American continent. He says, “God bless America,” then names the countries. And then he adds, “God bless the World.”

Behind him, in massive letters, is a message that says, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”

Many things divide us. In South Africa. In America. In the World.

But this guy, who has done so much for Spanish music, decided to use this stage (which is watched by over 100 million people around the globe) to promote love, unity and belonging.

That’s a choice right there.

And I guess a reminder that every single day we get to make choices.

The only thing more powerful than hate is love.

And we should all take more photos when we get the chance.
