Global (10 February 2022) – The Tinder Swindler captivated the world with the crazy story of a conman who allegedly used the Tinder dating app to live a life of luxury while defrauding women across Europe (and even South Africa), and now Netflix is about to raise the stakes with “Inventing Anna” – a story about a woman who swindled the world through Instagram.
Aided by a masterful social media presence, the young, awkward Anna Sorokin transformed herself into glamorous German heiress Anna Delvey. A fake, a fraudster, the Instagram swindler!
Between 2013 and 2017, while living in the U.S., she pretended to be the wealthy German heiress in order to defraud banks, hotels, and wealthy acquaintances. She was convicted of multiple counts of attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and theft of services in relation to these offences in 2019.
And tomorrow, Netflix launches the television adaptation of her story, Inventing Anna, created by Shondaland!
