Lay’s new advert, shot in South Africa, beautifully showcases the simple joy found in dogs, long drives, and open windows through its heartwarming “Dog. Car. Window.” campaign.

 

Johannesburg, South Africa (27 May 2024) – Lay’s is here to remind us that joy can be delightfully simple. Their latest advert, shot in the picturesque landscapes of South Africa, beautifully illustrates that sometimes, the best moments in life are the simplest ones.

The concept of the advert for Lay’s/Smith’s/Walker’s is straightforward: find ingredients that make you smile. And in this particular case, it’s all about the pure, uncomplicated joy found in dogs, long drives, and open windows.

According to “Campaign Brief,” this new platform aims to demonstrate through a series of three-word ‘recipes’ for joy that happiness doesn’t need to be complicated. Each recipe is unique and personal, showcasing that joy can be found in the most ordinary of moments. The first advert in this series, brought to life through digital, BVOD, social media, and OOH channels, features the heartwarming combination of “Dog. Car. Window.”

This infectiously joyous and simple spot, created by Goodby Silverstein & Partners and directed by the award-winning Nick Ball, immerses viewers in a deeply relatable moment of uncomplicated happiness that is often hiding in plain sight.

The advert quickly became a hit on South African social media, leading to speculation about its filming location. Though the production team seemed to try to keep this information “under wraps,” the truth came out thanks to Nick Ball’s Instagram, which was brimming with location tags in South Africa.

This means the adorable pups featured in the advert are all South African superstars!

Vandita Pandey, Chief Marketing Officer ANZ Snacks & Beverages at PepsiCo, shared her thoughts on the campaign: “Smith’s is not just a snack for Aussies; it’s a reminder that joy doesn’t require extravagance and is often just a simple recipe.
