The South African hospitality industry is on its knees but South Africans are uniting to make sure some of it can be saved today by eating out at restaurants for one meal.

South Africa (29 January 2021) – South Africans are once again taking matters into their own hands to try and assist the hospitality industry that is crumbling under current lockdown regulations.

The #JustOneMeal, #JustOneTrip idea was born. It encourages South Africans to go eat out for just one meal or to take one small trip and support local, small businesses such as restaurants, cafes and other hospitality and tourism-based industries.

Social media posts and WhatsApp messages are doing the rounds, encouraging people to eat out today in the hopes of saving your favourite local.

“Dear South Africa Please Eat out Today.

It is time to start a movement and make a difference… #JustOneTrip #JustOneMeal
The hospitality industry is very close to my heart and is really battling right now. #JustOneTrip and #JustOneMeal works like this: If we all book ONE TRIP or EAT OUT ONCE, that would make a huge difference to the industry. Everyone just doing 1 trip or having 1 meal out would make the difference to family businesses and the jobs of so many… We can do this safely and make a difference!

Share your pics of your trip and/or your meal out, hashtag #JustOneTrip or #JustOneMeal and share the joy of hospitality and making a difference.
We can do this, everyone working together to support the industry and enjoying life!

Please share, share, share… let’s start a positive movement!
Adele Benvie”

We encourage you to act responsibly, to follow all social distancing protocols and to wear a mask. Following these rules while supporting local restaurants is the best way to save SA’s crumbling industry. Let us know if you are going for a meal in the comment section.
