Because this ridiculousness is what most brands will be feeding you pretty soon.

Cape Town, South Africa (25 May 2020) – What do you get when you mix some celebs, melancholic visuals and David Scott from the Kiffness (who may have started losing his mind during lockdown)?

A ridiculous advert, to show you how ridiculous adverts are!

David Scott from The Kiffness is no stranger to controversy; he has had public fights with Woolworths over body shaming, taken on festivals that don’t pay and now the artist has created a post-lockdown advert to show South Africans how ridiculous adverts can be.

“I was messing around on piano the other night & started singing Dames over the chords I was playing. I immediately thought “sherbet, this sounds like one of those generic, super emotive coronavirus ads circulating in the US at the moment“. For fun, I decided to get my Hans Zimmer on & turned the song into an orchestral masterpiece. I thought, jeepers, I can’t just leave it at this, I need to actually make a full advert now!”

Scott got permission from drone photographer Josh Rubin to use his footage of a deserted Camps Bay for the opening shots. He then called Demi Demi to see if he wanted to be in the ad, to ad his inspirational vibe & reassuring voice (a key component to Ads of this nature). He was keen, & added an invaluable ingredient to the ad’s success.

“I then thought I need some celebrities in the video, so I called on Biggy, Jack Parow & Danny K (a must) to ask if they’d like to be in the ad. They all happily obliged.”

The advert also features stock footage of actors dressed as essential workers, Ndlovu Youth Choir & The Springboks lifting the World Cup – all very important visuals to ensure a successful post lockdown advert.

“The Ad was almost done, but I also really needed a shot of a grateful surfer in the ad. I couldn’t find any good footage, but then I remembered Jeremy Loops had a music video where he surfs a lot & found a really nice shot of him looking very grateful to be surfing. I didn’t get his permission to use this shot, because I assumed that he wouldn’t want to be in the video, after I upset him with some of my previous posts.”
