After handing out 500 stationery packs at the Westbury Primary School, Kindness Like Confetti JHB noticed the lack of uniforms; they hope to go back and help the children who are without.

Johannesburg, South Africa (25 January 2023) – A group called ‘Kindness like Confetti’ (KLC), based in Linden Gauteng, spreads kindness far and wide! This year, they kicked things off by making 500 stationery packs for Westbury Primary School – while there, they saw many children without proper school uniforms. The team have started a donation drive to get the much-needed uniforms for the children in need.

The Joburg (Linden) branch has been in full-swing preparation mode for the upcoming school year. They hoped to give each child at the Westbury Primary School a stationery pack, and they succeeded! Each child was given a pencil case filled with the stationery needed.

The need at the school was even greater than they had planned for though and it was soon apparent that the children could do with more than school supplies.

“We couldn’t help but notice that when we handed over the stationery packs at Westbury Primary School that so many of the learners were not wearing uniforms. We were told that a lot of the parents cannot afford them.”

KLC has started collecting second-hand grey shorts, trousers, school shoes and white shirts. The things that may be too small for your child this year but you have not gotten rid of them yet. They have supplied contact details here for those looking for the nearest drop-off point. They also welcome new uniform items from those who can afford them.

KLC is a registered non-profit organisation with six main projects – collecting and distributing sanitary products, a feeding scheme, a knitting project called The Joseph Jersey Project, a dignity bag project to support victims of rape, trauma and abuse, Project Uplift, collecting new and gently used bras for women and an animal welfare support project. There are four additional KLC branches including Cape Town, Gqberha, Knysna and Pretoria.

You can follow KLC on Facebook to stay up to date on the campaigns they run in 2023. Every single one is geared and making a meaningful difference in South Africa.
