The Ladysmith Animal Anti-Cruelty League is taking a stand against Rabies by offering free vaccinations to all dogs that are taken into the clinic.
A few months ago Carte Blanche did a special on the dangers of Rabies for both humans and dogs. The special showcased tragic stories of families torn apart by the raging disease. Since the special report, many people have started working to get animals vaccinated to prevent a further spread of Rabies in South Africa.
The Ladysmith AACL will be hosting a free rabies clinic at Hamilton Preparatory School in Willis Street on July 28. The clinic will be open from 10:00 am to 16:00 pm.
The clinic is an opportunity for families who don’t have the financial means to pay for the vaccinations themselves. They can bring their beloved pet along and get the treatment done for free.
Should you be unaware if your pet has had the vaccination or not, it is best to contact the AACL for further information.
If you decide to visit the free clinic, take along a small donation of pet food, collars, treats, pet bowls, blankets, towels, cat litter, toys or whatever you can afford, to help support the organisation.
It is important to fight the rabies outbreak in KwaZulu-Natal which is why the AACL is hosting this free clinic. Even if your pet is already vaccinated, let others know, including people living in informal settlements. Every dog vaccinated, is a human life saved.
