Life Changer’s mentorship programme has provided a safe space for young men to explore their thoughts, feelings, and aspirations.
Pietermaritzburg, South Africa (13 September 2024) – Much like growing girls, young boys require just as much love, care, attention and support as they navigate life from innocent boys and confused teenagers to mature men.
There is no denying that there is so much wrong with society and that young men can very easily find themselves in problematic situations or have unhealthy perspectives on life and relationships. In many cases, these “issues” can easily be avoided by a listening ear, a helping hand, mentorship or a little positive inspiration.
The volunteers at Life Changer NPO had the opportunity to spend time with a group of high school boys, sharing stories, lessons, and the realities of life that often go unseen.
“It wasn’t just about raising awareness, it was about planting seeds of compassion, responsibility, and hope in the hearts of these young men,” Life Changer shared.
The safe space allowed the group and volunteers to speak about the power of choices, the strength found in overcoming hardship, and the importance of standing up for others.
“Watching their eyes light up as they realise, they can be part of something bigger, that they can be the change the world needs, was truly moving.”
If the positive response is anything to go by, the intentional conversation and heart-to-heart may very well have been just what many of these young men needed to feel empowered and shape a better tomorrow.
