gourmet taste

Londoners and South African expats get to have a gourmet taste of South African cuisine at the restaurant called ‘bbar’ and the meals look amazing!

The bbar restaurant has a mouthwatering menu filled with delicious gourmet style South African cuisine. From starters like Babotie Spring Rolls with Mrs. Balls chutney to mains like Cape Malay Chicken Curry and poppadoms with fragrant rice and tasty sounding desserts like Amarula Crème Brûlée.

Hotelier Beatrice Tollman owns 17 luxury boutique hotels around the world including the Twelve Apostles. Her husband Stanley dedicated bbar to her South African heritage and home grown recipes.

“There seems to be a demand for South African cuisine in London. At the bbar there is a huge demand for bobotie, SA style Cape Malay curries, biltong, boerewors and avocado-based salads”

The cocktail bar and restaurant offers an afternoon high tea including mini bunny chows and a black tea Masala Chai, Kuchipudi.

They also offer an authentic peri peri rotisserie chicken with corn bread and extra peri peri sauce. These flavours are all to familiar to local South Africans and expats but knowing that our flavours are being coveted by foreign palates is very exciting!

“In keeping with the Tollmans’ philanthropic inclinations, for selected dishes a pound is donated to charities of their choice including Prince Harry’s Sentebale Charity in Lesotho.”

The bbar has donated over R1.3 million to various charities in the last 12 years which is amazing!
