The Angel Network in Johannesburg is collecting second-hand clothing that needs mending; they support ladies who mend and sell items to earn an income.
Johannesburg, South Africa (15 April 2024) – The Angel Network is collecting second-hand clothing to help a group of women who earn income by beautifully mending clothing. The sale of the clothing helps them support their families.
The art of mending has mostly been lost due to fast fashion and “affordable” clothing options, however, there is a growing movement within the slow fashion industry; those wanting to be more sustainable and those who simply cannot afford new clothing are mending things or buying mended things.
“Invisible mending is trending.
Please consider donating all your second-hand clothing, even the ones with tears in them.
We are uplifting sewing ladies who will do visible mending and sell these garments to sustain their families.Drop off points Glenhazel and Morningside.” – Glynne Goldberg Wolman
The Angel Network spearheads several causes and has, on many occasions, supplied thousands of essential items to people in need. The Angel Network works as a management organisation partnering with smaller organisations in need of funding and support. They rally their networks for help and then provide the aid needed to support smaller organisations. The organisation also supports individuals when they need it most.
You can support the organisation’s continued efforts throughout the year by following along on social media and joining the causes and campaigns that are closest to your heart. Find out more via Facebook here.
