June is National Microchipping Month, a big help for the four-legged family members who can’t call you if they get lost.

The Animal Welfare Society has shared a reduced cost on microchipping so you always have the best chance of finding your babies!

South Africa (06 June, 2023) — Sometimes big family reunions happen when they’re least expected. Often they happen because a stranger went well out of their way, led by kindness. Regardless of the ‘how’, reunions with four-legged family members are often incredible moments that few want to repeat despite their happy endings.

We love a reunion moment with a pet as much as anyone. But, as many people who have had a pet go missing know, life would lend itself to a lot more simplicity if Fluffy or Doctor Mittens on the loose could’ve called to let their family know where they are.

June is National Microchipping Month, which is any pet parent’s sign to make the ‘what ifs’ a little more manageable.

The Animal Welfare Society of SA shares that 1 in 3 pets go missing each year, and microchips play a crucial role in those reunion moments.

As such, AWS is offering microchips for R90 (including registration) until Mandela Day on 18 July.

“The procedure involves the implanting of a super-tiny piece of technology no bigger than a grain of rice under your pets skin and is designed to last their lifetime,” AWS explains.

The microchip is minuscule (about the size of a grain of rice) with each having a special number specific to your pet. Should they go on an adventure and are taken to an animal shelter or vets can scan it and get in touch with you.
