What began as a simple feeding scheme, born from a son’s love and admiration for his late mother’s generosity, has blossomed into a lifeline for 200 children and families in Eldorado Park.
Eldorado Park, South Africa (20 February 2025) – Having enough food to fill your stomach and the energy to face the day’s challenges is a fundamental human need. Yet, far too many people lack this basic sustenance, a struggle that the Gail Britoe Foundation confronts every day.
Every day, 200 children and families in Eldorado Park receive a nutritious meal and loaves of bread through its feeding scheme, helping them worry less about their various socio-economic struggles.
Founded in 2012 by Ensley Britoe in memory of his late mother, Gail, The Gail Britoe Foundation has been a beacon of hope in the Eldorado Park community for over a decade.
What started as a simple feeding scheme has now grown into a full-scale initiative, providing food parcels, school supplies, clothing, sanitary pads, and much more to families in need.
From food, blanket and Easter egg drives to Christmas toy donations, the Foundation’s reach continues to grow as the community’s needs evolve.
According to FoodFoward SA, which greatly supports the Foundation, Ensley was inspired by his mother’s selfless acts of kindness and has dedicated his life to giving back, just as she did, offering food to those in need, even when it meant sharing the last of her own.
“With FoodForward SA being a part of our family, we are able to do so much more. We can feed more people without stressing about where the next meal will come from. We’re also able to bless families with fresh vegetables and other essential items,” Ensley shares.
Through kind generosity and supporting those with very little to get by, Ensley and his team are not only serving and feeding the community but also offering hope and a sense of belonging.
