South Africa’s “Good Things Guy” and his Fiancé have joined the My Kitchen Rules South Africa kitchen as contestants.
The new hit South African show officially launched on the 13 August 2017 and is set to be the cooking show of the year! There is good food, drama and a mash up of uniquely South African contestants.
The first episode of My Kitchen Rules South Africa (MKRSA) introduced us to the first 5 couples but snippets have started revealing the second batch of contestants which includes South Africa’s Good Things Guy, Brent Lindeque paired with his partner of 9 years and Fiancé, Andrew Ross.

Before Brent Lindeque joined the Cliffcentral team or launched GoodThingsGuy.com, an online Good News site currently seeing over 2 million visitors a month. The young South African did something. What started as a simple idea to try and better one persons day, turned into a global event carried out by millions of people. The ‘RAK initiative’ was all about giving back & helping those in need.
Lindeque saw himself becoming a LeadSA Hero, was selected as one of Africa’s most promising Entrepreneurs and also chosen as one of the prestigious Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans.
“I am so excited to get cooking in the MKR kitchen… and even more so to meet all the contestants. A competition like this brings together two of my favorite things… people and food!” says Lindeque
Andrew Ross is a born entrepreneur, an inspirational thought leader, MD of 2 agencies and works around the world with his global client base in the fields of sponsorship’s, brand activation, experiential marketing and social media. Having worked in the performing arts in musical theatre, TV and Radio in his youth, Ross has a loud mouth, a razor sharp wit and of course plenty of opinions.
“They say life starts outside your comfort zone right? Brent and I are embarking on a journey that has never made me more terrified, and excited at the same time! Cooking has always been a passion of mine and I’m privileged to be part of such an exciting and innovative competition like this”, says Ross.
A real world modern family team #BrenDrew have two teenage children who are excited to see if their dad’s perform as well on TV as they do in the kitchen at home.
MKRSA resembles the Australian version, with home cooks competing for a cash prize that will be revealed on the show.
The 10 pairs will compete through an “instant restaurant” round in the comfort of their own homes and the winners will go through to the final round where they will compete in a custom-designed restaurant space and other locations.
The 18-episode show will be adjudicated by celebrity chef and restaurateur David Higgs and J-Something from popular band Mi Casa.
M-Net publicity manager Ingrid Engelbrecht said the show focused on South African home cooks, who open their own homes to fellow competitors and judges to showcase their flair and passion for food.
