Nando’s showcase over 19000 pieces of South African art in their 1000 stores worldwide! They invest in and promote local talent, uplifting so many artists!
South Africa (29 May 2017) – If you have ever been into a Nando’s restaurant you will have spotted how vibrant and local it feels. This is how it is in every store across the world. Every store in the world has a unique display of specially curated art!
While at the Africa Shared Value Summit last week we had the pleasure of hearing talks from Nando’s about their massive art programme and other ways they invest in South African talent.
“Nando’s has over 19 000 pieces of art in our growing collection”
“Our art collection turns up the heat in 1000 Nando’s restaurants around the world”
“It give us a PERi-warm glow to know Nando’s has the largest collection of emerging Southern African art in the world”
“We support over 275 artists to consistently let their creativity burn bright”
Doug Place, the Chief Marketing Officer joked that Nando’s is one of the most popular museums in the world! Only because the Louvre Museum gets around 8.3 million visitors a year and Nando’s gets 80 million visitors a year!
Apart from the art Nando’s also works with local up and coming furniture designers to create bespoke pieces of furniture for their branches. There are also artists that create stunning light fixtures in South Africa that are shipped to branches everywhere!
The brand calls their art procurement programme ‘The Chicken Run’, watch the video below for a look into the art curation process.
Next time you step into a Nando’s take a moment to admire the unique art surrounding you, it will be the only piece of its kind in the world!
