The Ndlovu Youth Choir learnt sign language to accompany their new song for World Hearing Day!

Johannesburg, South Africa (02 March 2021) – The Ndlovu Youth Choir has just released a song and music video to celebrate World Hearing Day.

World Hearing Day is held on 3 March each year to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world.

“To celebrate World Hearing Day on 3 March, we have performed a special version of ‘Wonderful World’. May our dance of words help create a world in which no person experiences hearing loss due to preventable causes and encourage those with hearing loss to achieve their full potential through rehabilitation, education and empowerment.”

The vibrant Ndlovu Youth Choir captured the hearts and minds of all South Africans and the world as they reached the final of America’s Got Talent in 2019 with their soul-stirring performances, and they keep bringing all the feels.

And this time, they have learnt sign language to accompany the song!

Ralf Schmitt – the conductor and director of the famed Ndlovu Youth Choir – says that it was a new experience shooting the video himself, but he loved the experience.

“COVID has taught us all new skills, and I have started taking a keen interest in video production. Although I have much to learn, I’m proud to have shot this video myself. My first effort was Jerusalema. We make do with what we have, and I shot this one on the trusty iPhone, and the drone shots are a wobbly ladder. Adino Trapani magically put it all together, and Sandy Dyer’s special touch made it look beautiful. A big thanks to the team for putting in such a huge effort to learn sign language.”
