Nelson Mandela has just signed his first professional contract for a football league in Germany and the internet can’t deal.
The talented soccer player who shares his name with South Africa’s former president who passed away in 2013 has signed his first professional contract for Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the 18-year-old whose full name is Nelson Mandela Mbouhom, has capped off an impressive season with Frankfurt under-19’s – scoring eight goals in 14 games for the German side.
His football career began as a youth player at Barcelona before he made the move to Germany at the tender age of 13.
After securing his work permit in Germany following his eighteenth birthday, Mandela will make the step up to the senior set-up next season as Frankfurt aim to build on their eleventh placed finish in the Bundesliga.

Although bearing no relation to the great politician who became South Africa’s first black president in 1994 following the abolition of apartheid, Frankfurt’s manager Niko Kovac will be hoping his young striker will prove as determined, successful and motivated with the leadership and attitude to match as his namesake.
After the news broke yesterday, the internet got involved with the conversation… obviously.
