People are running marathons in their homes to raise money for charity, but most are only capable of a Netflix marathon, worry not, you too can raise funds charity!
Cape Town, South Africa (22 April 2020) – We have been in awe of the people using their lockdown to get fit and raise money for charity. The Cape of Good Hope SPCA team “witnessed the fitness” and flexed their muscles for good, but now they too are ready for the anti-marathon.
The SPCA says you can be their hero by being an #SPCAcouchpotato.
“You’ve witnessed the fitness during #lockdownSA, as determined team SPCA athletes flexed their muscles for good. Now it’s your turn… the #spcacouchpotato anti-marathon has begun.
“But,” we hear you ask “How can I make a difference for animals in need whilst trapped between the couch and the fridge?!”It’s as easy as Pick your Challenge and #Doit4love – not a seasoned runner, Master Yogi or Mary Berry level banana bread baker? No fear – we have selected a range of tasks to suit everyone from Einstein to Homer Simpson.”
The tasks are simple and completely open to interpretation.
- Shake your booty, La Bamba in the braai place or display your Dirty Dancing moves – no one leaves baby in the corner!
- Paint a masterpiece within a chosen time frame and offer to award the completed work as a prize to the person who donates the most to your challenge.
- Bake challenge: create the biggest Muffin; Ice cakes with a blindfold – get your friends to bet on who whipped this challenge best!
- Read 2 books in 2 days and ask people to sponsor 50c per page that you read
- Netflix 24hr binge anti-marathon challenge
- Or just monkey-around and challenge your mates to a ZOOM pie-eating challenge; hottest chilli tasting or karaoke casino night – the options are endless but keep them PG please.
“Our generous sponsors – 5 Seasons Guest House and Regal Pet Health – will award prizes to: A) the most creative act/deed/challenge AND B) the person who raises the most money.”
