New ‘old’ photos of the Beatles are being shared for the first time, shot by none other than Paul McCartney himself!
London, United Kingdom (31 March, 2023)—Obsession with the Beatles took over the world in the 1960s. In fact, the phenomenon even got a name — Beatlemania. Recently, new photographs of the epic period were revealed, shot by none other than one of the Beatles themselves.
Paul McCartney, known for his vocals alongside John Lennon, his songwriting and of course, his ability to champion basically any instrument in front of him, had another talent.
Carrying around a Pentax camera during the storm of Beatlemania, McCartney picked up a nifty skill as a low-key photographer.
Now, McCartney is sharing those treasured photographs and what the world looked like from their lens during their watershed 1963-1964 tour.
The trove of unseen photographs will fall part of a Beatle fan’s dream exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery titled: Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes Of The Storm.
In sharing some of the pictures on Twitter, Paul McCartney said:
“Looking at these photos now, decades after they were taken, I find there’s a sort of innocence about them. Everything was new to us at this point. But I like to think I wouldn’t take them any differently today.”
