The nurses from the surgical ward at the Netcare Alberlito Hospital filled the hallways with their beautiful and uplifting singing, leaving patients moved to tears.

Ballito, South Africa (28 July 2023) – Shelley Orchison recently underwent major surgery at the Netcare Alberlito Hospital and while recovering in the surgical ward, she heard the nurses singing in the hallway and says the music gave her the strength to pull through the worst day of her recovery.

Shelley shared that leading up to the major surgery, she felt very emotional and when she woke up, she was so glad that it was finally over and she could heal. She suffered severe blood loss during her procedure but with blood transfusions, was feeling stronger each day.

On one of her hardest days, she was lying in her hospital bed when singing started filling the ward. Somewhere in the distance, the nurses were singing a gospel song. Their voices quickly filled the ward and before long, Shelley was overcome by tears. She explained that “it was just the most beautiful thing, so uplifting”.

Shelley said the nurses have been phenomenal and their care for her while she has been recovering has been superb. In fact, she called their commitment “next level”.

After sharing the recordings with her friends and family, a friend reached out and said she should share the beautiful singing with us at Good Things Guy. Shelley contacted us and sent through the recordings.

For her, the most important part was that these nurses would know what a difference they made on her hardest day.

“So for me it was really lovely and uplifting hearing them sing like that, I can only imagine how wonderful it is for other people here too”

“The staff in that ward need to be commended, acknowledged and praised for the light and love they sent around that ward”

Take a listen to the nurses singing, it gave us goosebumps!
