Calling all ‘Insta-Grans’ and ‘Insta-Gramps’, JHB Zoo is opening their gates to senior citizens for free, this Sunday to celebrate Older Persons Day.
International Older Persons Day is this Sunday, the 1st of October and the Johannesburg Zoo wants to invite families to join in on the day with their grandparents and parents in tow.
Older Persons Day was established by the United Nations to combat Ageism and abuse that is seen so often in every society across the world.
The JHB Zoo has planned a day filled with fun. All senior citizens will be given free entry to the zoo and can take ‘senior selfies’ around the zoo. The zoo is encouraging the elderly to ‘Walk, snap and post’ pictures at designated hotspots using their very own Selfie Walking Stick, a device that combines a cane and a selfie stick.
Images can then be uploaded to social media platforms using the #SelfiesWithSeniors hashtag for a chance to win a lifetime pass to the majestic 55-hectare park.
“Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo is delighted to host an event that brings entire families together; from the tots to the grannies and ooms,”
“The Zoo is a great space for everyone to have a fabulous day out, and I think the ‘Selfies with Seniors’ campaign highlights that beautifully whilst paying tribute to our older generation.” – Jenny Moodley, GM: Marketing and Communications for Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo.
We are looking forward to seeing all the fun photo’s that the Insta-gran and gramps post on their day. For more information call the Zoo on (011) 646-2000.
