Kong: Skull Island

Johannesburg is getting an amazing outdoor cinema, premiering the new Kong: Skull Island a week before the rest of the world gets to see it!

Warner Bros. Pictures and Ster-Kinekor have announced a unique outdoor screening experience for the South African premiere of the film, a week before its global release on 10 March.

On Thursday, 09 March, Joburgers are being treated to the movie premiere on a huge screen and surround sound, befitting to Kong, which will be set up on the top field of St Stithians College in Sandton for this premium cinema event.

“As the country’s leading cinema chain, we are extremely excited to present the premiere of a movie the size of Kong: Skull Island as an alternative screening event. We are constantly striving to present innovative and new cinema offerings to our audiences, as an extension of our promise to deliver great moments,”

“We believe this outdoor cinema experience will surpass our customers’ expectations, considering that we are hosting the premiere of the film at this event – a week before it hits our cinema screens.” says Motheo Matsau, Chief of Marketing and Sales of Ster-Kinekor Theatres.

The Kong premier will have a variety of artisanal food, craft beers and wine as well as delicious Ster-Kinekor popcorn and cold drinks.

Seating is unreserved and on a first come, first served basis.

Audiences should bring along picnic blankets and low-style camping or beach chairs to enjoy the screening in comfort. It is recommended to arrive early to secure the best seats.

There are a few rules for the event, like no personal food and drink may be brought onto the premises as there will be food and drink vendors at the event.

The movie is rated 13V so no children under the age of 13 will be permitted and the event will be cashless but will accept all cards.
