Youth Choir

The UP Youth Choir is dedicated to providing children of all different backgrounds with a musical education, highlighting every talent in the group.

 

Tshwane, South Africa The University of Pretoria (UP) Youth Choir is a multi-cultural and diverse group of young performers representing all races, religions and economic groups of South Africa.

The UP Youth Choir is dedicated to providing children of all different backgrounds with a musical education. They create performances that fulfil and develop each singer’s potential. The choir nurtures artistic excellence and diversity that enriches the community.

The choir consists of 90 choristers aged 14 – 19 from the greater Tshwane area and represents 33 different high schools. Their repertoire features an exciting assortment of South African and International music including elements of traditional music, jazz, gospel and folk music.

The UP Youth Choir is recognised worldwide for its award-winning performances and spectacular artistry. They are locally loved and internationally acclaimed – inspiring young South Africans for a better future in our beautiful country.

The 90 students recently looked back at 2019 and all the joy it brought. Each student explained what being a member of the choir meant to them in a short film about the choir.
