World Random Act of Kindness Day is next week, and these are some ideas of how you can pay some kindness forward to those you love or those who need some love.

Global (11 February 2022) – Random Acts of Kindness have existed for hundreds of years. Humans have always looked out for each other, making sure those who needed a little helping hand managed to get it.

Sometimes the world can be a harsh place, and we can feel like nothing good ever happens, but random acts of kindness always inspire hope. Not only for those who receive them but for the people that hear about them afterwards.

Over the years, we have shared thousands of acts of kindness right here on this platform. In fact, Good Things Guy was born out of a random act of kindness. Brent Lindeque was nominated to do a drinking challenge which was called the “Nek Nomination”. He decided to use the moment to feed a homeless person and his act of kindness went viral globally.

That was eight years ago! Every year since then, citizens of the world have used February as the month to spread kindness. The Random Act of Kindness Foundation was founded during that time, and they established that the 17th of February is World Random Act of Kindness Day. Beyond that, the week from the 13th to the 19th of February 2022 has also been designated as Kindness Week.

Citizens of the world are encouraged to do something special each day. This year, the foundation encourages people to purchase a gift voucher for someone in need, have a day your inner-child would adore, write a letter for someone special, send a text to let people know what they mean to you and commit to more acts of kindness throughout the year.

“Acts of Kindness: A random act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a tremendous impact on someone else’s life.” ― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

We love these ideas and have come up with a few extra ideas for you. The official Random Act of Kindness (RAK) website founded by Brent has awesome RAKcards, which allow you to print your own free copies to hand out to challenge friends and family. You can find 19 different RAKcards to use this month and always.

Take a look at the RAK website here. It is scientifically proven that being kind to someone can be good for your own health! So go out there and smile at someone, pay someone a compliment and just share the love!
