The Richards Bay SPCA shared a helpful idea for animal lovers; they hope people will create emergency dog packs to help any hungry dogs they find.

Richards Bay, South Africa (06 June 2022) – Animal welfare organisations share so many helpful tips for people to help animals in need. They can reach more animals if people are helping carry some of the load. The Richards Bay SPCA shared a helpful post about emergency care packs that can be given to dogs in need during the winter months.

One of the ideas being shared at the moment is a little box containing some food, a biscuit and water. Much like the festive dog packs that were created last year by PawsRehoming, the package will help a dog in need.

There are many animals that need help, whether strays roaming the streets or pets of homeless people. A pack of food goes a long way for an animal.

The Richards Bay SPCA encourages people to add a box or two to your car, so if you ever see a dog, you can place the food and water out for it while waiting for a local animal welfare organisation to assist.

One supporter shared a reminder that water bottles shouldn’t be kept in cars over long periods of time in summer. So if you take up this cause, be sure to keep the water cool and out of the sunlight. It would help if you also swapped it out regularly to ensure it’s fresh.

Below is an example of the pack the SPCA is talking about.
