From humble scoops of rice to ambitious sustainable projects, the Rise Against Hunger charity has provided nourishing meals, changed lives and delivered hope in countless lives for 10 incredible years throughout South Africa!
Johannesburg, South Africa (06 March 2025) – Every scoop of rice, hearty stew, meal packed and sustainable project has culminated into an incredible 10 years of impact at Rise Against Hunger Africa!
This year, the non-profit organisation, which goes far and beyond to work towards ending hunger where it is most prevalent, celebrates a decade of providing sustenance to those in need, rolling out sustainable projects and engaging in disaster relief activities.
Built on the collective spirit of those who believe in a world without hunger, Rise Against Hunger Africa is able to provide food and aid to communities in need and empower those communities to become self-sufficient in the long term, together ending hunger.
The charity runs permanent Early Childhood Development Feeding Programmes in seven provinces, with targeted projects in each region as well as a response network across South Africa.
Recently, 3,500 Wits University students in collaboration with Rise Against Hunger came together to pack 153,624 meals for ECD centres in just three days – just one and yet very profound example of coming together to make a difference.
“In collaboration with Rise Against Hunger Africa, this student-powered initiative ensured that 667 young children received five nutritious meals a week for an entire year. These meals fuel growth, learning, and hope for a brighter future,” Rise Africa said.
Hunger impacts everything concerning a young child’s life, and there’s very little they can do on an empty stomach. It is thanks to such initiatives that they have a fair chance to thrive beyond their circumstances.
“This year, we’re honouring several incredible team members who have reached a huge milestone—10 years with Rise Against Hunger!
“To our amazing team—thank you for your passion, hard work, and belief in a world without hunger. Your impact is felt in every meal packed, every partnership formed, and every life changed.”
