ResQ the Runway took place over the weekend and it was a great success for all the animals involved. They raised nearly R20k for 5 organisations.
ResQ the Runway was a first of its kind, showcasing adoptable dogs. Five animal welfare organisations took part on the runway with their rescues.
The purpose of this event was to create awareness, raise much-needed funds for all the rescues and hopefully get some doggies adopted. A group of 35 models from various walks of life took part because of their love for animals. They volunteered their time to walk the Runway with a ResQ.
The money raised will be divided equally between the 5 rescues. The rescue groups supported by this initiative were PARR from PMB, Border Collie Rescue KZN, Husky Rescue KZN, Animal Antics Rescue from Botha’s Hill and Friends of K9 from Hillcrest.
The animals took to the stage like professionals and strut with tails wagging. The event took place at Hillcrest High School and was well attended by the public.
The animals in the show got a little more exposure and the potential for adoption is much greater now. Each organisation now also has a little more money to work with in caring for the animals.
