South Africa was represented by a second dance company at the DanceStar competition, and they too are bringing home many awards.

Johannesburg, South Africa – DanceStar is one of the top competitions for dancers to compete in and we are excited to share even more good news from the competition.

The Jozi Youth Dance Company (JYDC) were also at the competition representing South Africa and managed to earn 23 podium placings with their help of 11 teammates. The company is very proud of all the hard work the dancers put into their performances and named each person who won a trophy.

“Congratulations JYDC and South Africa! Nothing could have prepared us for the success that occurred this past week in Croatia.”

JOZI Youth Dance Company received 23 podium placings from a team of 11 with 7000+ people competing. The Team with the most A-League podium placings in the entire competition.”

As this was the dance company’s first time attending the competition, their success is even more exciting. One of their dancers was also chosen to perform at the Gala evening. She won herself a cash prize in the process.

“Navin Jacobs was also selected to perform in the Gala evening with around 3000 people watching, on our first year attending and we received one of the most prestigious overall special awards.”

The youth dance company said it was such an honour to represent South Africa on an international stage.

“It has been an honour to represent our country and to have been so successful we feel more grateful and inspired than ever! Thank you to Chris Stapelberg and Tiaan Visser for sponsoring us and for believing in us! You are doing an amazing job and we hope we did you proud! We thank you both and DanceStar for this awesome platform!”
