The SA Guide Dogs Association for the Blind have founded a cycling team for the 947 Ride Joburg and encourages cyclists to help them raise funds to support the charity.

Johannesburg, South Africa (29 July 2024) – The SA Guide Dogs Association for the Blind is getting ready for a major fundraising event that is a big favourite with Joburgers, the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg 2024. By becoming a registered charity recipient, they have the chance to raise money to change even more lives. They are encouraging people to join their cycling team, to change lives!

Every day, the SA Guide Dogs Association empowers individuals to take leaps of faith, whether it’s helping people place trust in their guide dogs, embracing newfound independence with a white cane, or donors investing in the association’s mission. Each action represents a leap towards a brighter, more inclusive future.

The big event is taking place later this year (although time is flying) on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the FNB Stadium. For those getting ready to register, you can do so in the name of the SA Guide Dogs.

“In the spirit of Leap Year, we invite you to join Team Guide Dogs and make a significant difference in the lives of visually impaired people in South Africa.

By participating in the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg alongside Team Guide Dogs, you will directly contribute to the training of more Assistance Dogs for the visually impaired, physically disabled, and children on the Autism Spectrum, as well as the purchase of essential assistive devices. Every pedal stroke and donation will help transform lives and fulfil aspirations.”
