The Santa Shoebox pledges for 2020 are just around the corner, the website opens on the 1st of September so get ready to spread all kinds of love and joy!

South Africa (26 August 2020) – The Santa Shoebox Project was started in 2006 with only 180 boxes being handed out. Since then, the charity has touched the lives of over 858 673 underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia.

Everyone gets involved, from corporate businesses to groups of friends and individuals. Everyone who gets involved makes an incredible effort to give the very best boxes. Take, for example, last year; a young man was also gifted driving lessons as part of his box. The gesture brought everyone to tears!

“When a donor pledges a Santa Shoebox, they promise a child the gift of self-worth and fulfilled potential. These are so much more than “just” a shoebox; each donor fills a decorated shoebox with 8 required items – a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and a facecloth, school supplies, a toy, sweets and an outfit of clothing.”

We promised to remind you when pledges would open and that is just around the corner! Pledges open next week, the 1st of September 2020, so here is what you need to do:

1. Set your alarm clock!
2. Put a reminder in your diary!
3. Login NOW to ensure your Donor details are up to date!
4. Cancel everything else to be part of the AVALANCHE of kindness!

“Good people LOVE an opportunity to do good – and no time is more important or valuable to do so than right now.

Thank you – YOU are someone’s One In A Million!” – Santa Shoebox Project

If you need a refresher on what is needed for a Santa Shoebox, we got you covered!

This is what to pack in your shoebox

Please remember that all items must be NEW and AGE-APPROPRIATE. PEP Stores is a great one-stop-shop for all Santa Shoebox contents.

All of the following items are required:

  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush
  • Bar of soap
  • Washcloth
  • An outfit of clothing
  • Educational supplies
  • Sweets
  • A toy

Some additional things to consider:

  • Please put all liquids, like cosmetics or blow bubbles, into a ziplock bag, so that the contents cannot leak out and spoil the shoebox.
  • Please include extra batteries with battery-operated toys or choose a non-battery-operated alternative.

The following is a list of things we ask you NOT to include in your Santa Shoebox:

  • Perishable or tinned food or sweets containing nuts. Please put chocolates in a ziplock bag.
  • Medicine or vitamins of any kind.
  • Violence-related items like toy guns or knives.
  • Anything of a political, religious or racial nature.
