The Santa Shoebox Project has announced that 2022 pledges will open on the 1st of September; this is everything you need to know before that big day.

South Africa (19 August 2022) – Pledges for the 2022 Santa Shoebox Project will open on the 1st of September this year. The team are getting all the final touches done before all the loyal shoeboxes can start pledging their boxes to children in need.

The Santa Shoebox Project was started in 2006 as a way for people to provide gifts to children who often go without during the festive season. The first roll-out saw just 180 gift boxes distributed to children in need. In 2020, that number crossed the 1 million mark.

The Project, which is now in its 16th year, is an inspiring community initiative that collects uniquely personalised gifts for underprivileged children. Equally, the project is about parents teaching their own children the Joy of Giving.

“When a donor pledges a Santa Shoebox, they promise a child the gift of self-worth and fulfilled potential. These are so much more than “just” a shoebox; each donor fills a decorated shoebox with 8 required items – a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and a facecloth, school supplies, a toy, sweets and an outfit of clothing.”

The Santa Shoebox team joined the Good Things Guy Podcast to discuss the awesome initiative as well as this year’s theme: Let the haves share the love! You can listen to the podcast here.
