Team Pledges for Santa Shoebox will be opening shortly, so if you and friends or your company plan to pledge more than 20 boxes, you can sign up for so long.

South Africa (14 June 2021) – The Santa Shoebox Project was started in 2006, with only 180 boxes being handed out. Since then, the charity has touched the lives of over 1 017 741 underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia.

Everyone gets involved, from corporate businesses to groups of friends and individuals. Everyone who gets involved makes an incredible effort to give the very best boxes. For example, in 2019, a young man was gifted driving lessons as part of his box. The gesture brought everyone to tears!

Many groups get together to make up 20 or more boxes each year. This is done to make a greater impact and to bring down the cost of the boxes. The Santa Shoebox team have a process that helps people who wish to pledge more boxes.

“If you plan on pledging 20 Shoeboxes or more, our Team Pledge Help Desk is ready to assist.

A Team Pledge is a great way to build team spirit – create some gees in the workplace, share the joy in your book club or braai circle, or teach your learners the Joy of Giving. It’s also a wonderful bonding experience for a family!

If you are not able to get a group together and still want to pledge a box but are concerned about the cost, earlier this year, we shared a helpful guide to buying one small thing each month. You can read how to do that here, and even though the first half of the year is behind us, you can still keep costs down by buying two or three items each month.

All of the following items are required in each box:

  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush
  • Bar of soap
  • Washcloth
  • An outfit of clothing
  • Educational supplies
  • Sweets
  • A toy

With the first half of the year behind us, we are getting really close to when individual pledges open again. So stay tuned; we will keep you updated.
