Durban expats

Martin Mostert has been living overseas, he traveled back home to South Africa and filmed his trip. The video captured the essence of SA from an expats view

Martin Mostert is a South African currently living in Berlin. He started traveling to better his filming and editing skills, that is why he is stayin in Berlin at the moment.

Recently he shot some footage of his trip to South Africa, it’s a combination of beauty and sad reality.

A video about South Africa, my home. I decided to split the video into 3 parts.

I was inspired for the intro by all the things that generally remind me of home like nik naks, hadeda’s, rugby and beautiful landscapes to name a few.

The second part of the video Martin delved into the rawness of SA. He went into parts of Durban city that someone wouldn’t usually visit, especially a tourist on holiday there. The area’s can potentially be very dangerous. Martin was able to capture real stories of how some people live their daily lives in poverty.

He then switches the tone to some personal travel moments, this perfectly contrasts the difference between the two worlds, tourists or expats seeing beauty versus seeing the real South African’s daily struggle.

One could say two worlds apart in one country. South Africa is a place of mystery and beauty, with always something new to discover.
