The #SPARdonate challenge is going viral thanks to all the selfless South Africans taking part; international participation is also welcomed!
South Africa (17 April 2020) – Good Things Guy founder Brent Lindeque turned the Egg Challenge on its head by teaming up with SPAR and using the challenge to create a movement. Together, they are feeding thousands all thanks to some eggs, maizemeal and milk.
Brent launched the #SPARdonate challenge on Good Things Guy on the 15th of April 2020 as an answer for those wanting to do more with their Egg Challenge nominations. SPAR agreed to place a trolley at the entrance of each of their stores nationwide, to collect food supplies for hungry South Africans.
In less than 48-hours, many stores are reporting full trolleys and hundreds of people are sharing their #SPARdonate challenges online.
“Collectively you pledged over 10000 donations yesterday, plus there have been massive cash donations as well and Herman Mashaba just did a nomination!!!
How flipping rad. So many good humans wanting to help feed South Africa.” – Brent Lindeque
The challenge has been received really well! It is even reaching international waters where many are asking how they can get involved. Brent set up a BackaBuddy crowdfund so the international participants can help feed the vulnerable in South Africa. The challenge is even being done in the Kingdom of Eswatini!
If you would like to join the #SPARdonate, you can do so via the BackaBuddy fund here or at your local SPAR. All you need to do is donate 1-litre box milk (long life), 6 eggs and 1kg maizemeal. Film or photograph yourself doing it, add it to social media using the hashtag #SPARdonate and challenge your friends to join! You can post your challenge on any social media platform. Tag us too so we don’t miss it! Take a look at some of the incredible challenges accepted so far. Just WOW!!!
Herman Mashaba joined the challenge…
And so many more! Thank you to every person who has taken part and who will still take part during this lockdown. We love you all for supporting South Africa through this time!
