The Cape of Good Hope SPCA staffers took part in the IMPI challenge for the love of their animals, braving mud and obstacles for them.
Cape Town, South Africa – This year, the IMPI challenge teamed up with the Cape of Good Hope SPCA. All entrants for the challenge were given the opportunity to donate to the SPCA.
The SPCA relies solely on public donations to provide the services they do.
Staff from the organisation joined all the racers to take on the challenge as well. They did it to honour all the animals they fight for. 28 staff from their Inspectorate, Hospital and Adoptions departments took part on the big day.
“This is the first time that we have managed to round up such a large, diverse team of staff comprised of vets, inspectors, animal care assistants, kennel hands, orderlies, horse care unit staff and more,” says Natasha Johannes, Fundraising Officer Cape of Good Hope SPCA.
“The team has taken up this challenge to symbolise the challenges that must be overcome every day during the course of their duties at the SPCA. These are the people who witness cruelty first-hand, the people who reach out with kindness to animals who are cowering in fear and the people that animals can count on every single day to ensure that they are fed, clean, healthy, comfortable and loved. These are the people who rise to fight every single day in spite of frequent heartache and tears. These are the jobs that only the brave are called to and we are hoping that our team of animal warriors will be well supported in recognition of their bravery and tenacity that sees them always overcoming their challenges. Please consider showing them some love by making a donation towards a cause that they really care about! Contributions of R100 or more will be recognised with a FREE reversible sports scarf.”
They completed the IMPI challenge despite how difficult it was, always remembering the difficulties faced by the animals they have yet to save.
“This past weekend CoGH SPCA staffers exhibited true hearts of courage as they took on the daunting Impi Challenge and Festival
Together, spurred on by their commitment to the special souls in our care, they pushed their bodies through mud, wind and water (and a fair amount of pain).
The aches and groans were well worth it once the race was completed and our incredible SPCA athletes could sit back knowing it was all for the animals they love with all their hearts.”
