Their medals shine but their voices shine brighter… Stellenbosch University Choir’s ‘Fix You’ performance is the kind of magic you need to see to believe.
Aarhus, Denmark (08 July 2025) – Just days after the Stellenbosch University Choir stunned the international stage with a triple gold win at the European Choir Games in Denmark, we now have the video that’s bringing their brilliance home to all of us… and it’s absolutely goosebump-inducing.
The choir, already celebrated for collecting three gold medals at the prestigious INTERKULTUR European Choir Games and Grand Prix of Nations 2025, performed a hauntingly beautiful rendition of Coldplay’s Fix You, arranged by their legendary conductor André van der Merwe.
Now, thanks to a newly released video of that moment in Aarhus, the rest of the world can witness just how moving that performance truly was. From the first note to the final breath, the Stellenbosch University Choir poured heart and soul into the piece. The emotion is palpable. The harmonies are flawless. And the power of young voices rising together in unity is pure magic.
Editor’s note: We have reached out to the team as the video setting has been changed to private. We will revert as soon as it has either been made public again or a new link is supplied. Please bear with us. In the meantime, you can see other incredible performances here.
This performance comes hot on the heels of their incredible achievements:
96.56% – GOLD in Adult Choirs (2nd place overall)
95.69% – GOLD in Jazz, Pop, Show (2nd place overall)
95.31% – GOLD in Musica Sacra a Cappella (3rd place overall)
As the only choir from South Africa (and the only African choir at the event) they stood tall among 132 choirs representing 33 countries.
“What an emotional experience. It’s been a huge privilege to watch our amazing choir perform at Aarhus here in Denmark,” said Prof Richard Stevens, SU’s Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching. “You saw student success here. People from all over Europe coming to watch our choir was truly an honour, and we can be proud of our SU choir.”
The video of Fix You now joins the long list of reasons this choir continues to shine on international stages. It’s not just about the medals, it’s about connection. About using music to comfort, uplift and remind us of our shared humanity.
Their performance proves, once again, that South African talent can move the world.
