Mike Yung is a 57 year old Subway Singer who has worked singing underground for over 37 years. He starts to sing ‘Unchained Melody’ and WOW’s everybody.
Mike Yung took the stage dressed in all black and a beanie. He explained to Simon Cowell that he has spent the last 37 years singing in the New York subway. Simon asked him when were his lowest points and he said Monday’s and Tuesday’.
Being a subway singer can be a tough career but commuters make up for it on Thursday’s and Friday’s. He then wowed the audience with his performance of ‘Unchained Melody’ by the Righteous Brothers.
Mike received a standing ovation from the entire audience as well as three of the four judges. Heidi commented that she could feel with every word he sang, it truly meant something, which was most important.
Mel B wasn’t impressed at all and then Simon came to his defense in the best way!
“Well I am going to be honest, you do have a great and incredible voice, having said that… there is a difference in somebody singing on the subway to somebody singing on the stage of America’s Got Talent. There is that gap you have to bridge, I just don’t think you are quite there!” – Mel B
“You know what’s ironic here Mike? I was listening to something that Mel was playing during the break, which was a piece of auto-tuned junk! And this is the real deal!” – Simon Cowell
