Every year thousands of individuals globally are diagnosed with blood diseases and in many instances, a blood stem cell transplant is their only life-saving treatment option.
Sadly there is only a 25% chance of finding a match from a sibling or within the family. For the remaining 75%, their only option is an unrelated matched donor.
Sunflower Day is on the 21st of September and the tropes are officially on sale. This year they will be available for R30 each at Pick n Pay stores across the country, selected independent pharmacies or online at Zando during August and September 2018. The funds raised by the sale of the tropes will help fund the tests done for stem cell donations.
By registering as a donor, you are in no way financially responsible. The Sunflower fund covers all expenses, they do this to help save as many lives as possible.
Did you know that if you are a registered Organ Donor, you are not automatically a stem cell donor? By registering as a stem cell donor you can save people with blood diseases such as leukaemia.
