Sunflower Fund

The Sunflower Fund is hosting an event that will transport you into a Bygone Era all the while helping raise funds and awareness for leukaemia patients.

The Sunflower Fund is a South African Non-Profit Company dedicated to creating awareness, educating the public and recruiting blood stem cell donors.

The Sunflower Fund covers the cost of the tissue-type testing which is fundamental to saving the lives of South Africans who need a stem cell transplant.

“The chance of finding a matching donor is 1 in 100,000 – and as ethnic origin plays a significant role in the search for a donor, South Africa’s rainbow nation is at a distinct disadvantage, requiring a large pool of prospective donors.”

The fund has decided to put a fun twist into their fundraising efforts and are hosting a Big Band night filled with music, food, drink and dance.

“Take an imaginative journey to a bygone era, when you step into the Centre for the Book in the historic Queen Victoria Street Cape Town to be serenaded by the sounds of big band music.”

“Come and experience the passion and dedication of local musicians, whilst enjoying quintessential local whiskey’s and wine, as canapés float by to enhance their flavour. You and your dance partner will experience a night filled with all-consuming entertainment provided by the local Delft Big Band and local swing band Manouche.”

The event will be on Friday the 20th of April 2018 at 6pm for 6:30, at the Centre for the Book in Cape Town. Tickets are R550 and include arrival drinks, canapés and food bowls, wine, whiskey and Lindt chocolate to keep you dancing all night long.

Proceeds from the event will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness as well as educate the public about stem cell donation and recruit more blood stem cell donors. This assists greatly in giving the hope of life to patients suffering from life-threatening blood disorders, like leukaemia, who are in need of a blood stem cell transplant from an unrelated matching donor.
