The Table Mountain Cableway is helping Capetonians celebrate a lockdown birthday in the best way, by offering free rides up the mountain.

Cape Town, South Africa (15 June 2020) – Did you know, if you take your ID with you when visiting South African National Parks, you can qualify for reduced rates to enter? This is done to encourage locals to visit parks without paying tourist fees. If you only learned this today, you are welcome!

Did you also know, you are allowed to visit South African National Parks now during level 3 lockdown? You are only allowed to do a day visit and you are not allowed to cross borders to access a park. So Gauteng residents can only visit parks within their own province and so on.

Lastly, did you know that if you are in Cape Town on your birthday, you can go up Table Mountain for free? Yeah, the cableway has always allowed birthday guys and gals free entry. The lockdown has meant many Capetonians have missed out on their annual freebie. Or have they?

Table Mountain Cableway has extended the birthday treat. Usually, you have seven days from your birthday to claim your ride but the company are allowing anyone who celebrated a lockdown birthday, to claim a free ride within the first two-weeks of them opening.

So, how many of you had a lockdown birthday and what did you get up to? If you want to find out more about the rates and visiting hours of the South African National Parks, you can check out their website here.
