The Teacher Traveller shared a clever idea for a class gift on her Facebook page, and teachers worldwide love the idea; parents love it even more!
Global (17 December 2021) – Every year, we thank the teachers in our children’s lives by giving them a gift. In 2020, The Teacher Traveller decided she wanted to do a gift with her class that they could use every year.
The Teacher Traveller is a blog-style Facebook page that inspires teachers worldwide.
In 2020, she shared a clever and incredibly heartwarming gift idea with her class. She helped each child make a snowman based on their height at the time. The idea is to take it out each year to see how much a child has grown. It is a wonderful way to mark each year, and for those who can’t mark their children’s growth on a door post or wall, this is a wonderful alternative.
This is one of those rare gifts that keeps on giving!
“The children in my class proudly marched out of school today clutching their (rather adorable) wooden snowmen gifts for home. After I showed them all how to measure and record how tall they all were, I cut each plank of wood to the children’s heights, the idea being that each Christmas their families could take them out and see how much they have grown!”
“The children have done every part of this project themselves, from the painting to the decorating, and despite me STILL finding white paint splats everywhere I go and being accidentally bonked over the head with these multiple times today, this was worth every minute. Happy Christmas everybody”
With each snowman, she shared the following poem to help parents understand the purpose of the gift.
“Lean this snowman against the wall,
To remind you when I was this small,
Fingerprints made the nose and eyes,
This snowman is just my size,
So take him out each Christmas and see,
I’m not as little as I used to be.”
