Global (21 February 2022) – A re-imagination of the beloved sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” set in modern-day America through a new, dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air will be hitting the small screens soon!

How did Morgan Cooper’s mock trailer turn into one of the most anticipated series of the year? Well, Will Smith saw it and knew immediately that this was the Fresh Prince 2022 needed!

The mock trailer was uploaded on the 10th of March 2019, and after three years and some negotiations, Will Smith, Universal Television and Peacock have re-imagined the entire series taking it from funny sitcom to thrilling drama.

And the pitch was so good that the network ordered it for two seasons up-front!

Watch the mock trailer that started it all below:

Set in modern-day America, Peacock’s new one-hour drama series Bel-Air imagines the beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air through a new, dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air.

“Now, this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down and I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there… I’ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air.”

As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.

The first episode of the new Bel-Air started on Peacock on the 13th of February 2022, which means it will be hitting South African screens soon! But until then, watch the trailer here:
