CHOC houses bring families together in the fight against childhood cancer, giving them a safe haven to rest and recover during treatment.

South Africa (06 August 2023) – The Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa (CHOC) plays an incredible role in the lives of children and teens fighting cancer. They have several CHOC houses that cater to these children and their families; from lifts to the hospital to a secure place to rest after treatment.

The CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA is a non-profit organisation that advocates for the health and well-being of children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening blood disorders. The passionate and dedicated staff and volunteers of CHOC aim to save lives through early detection and comprehensive support programmes for the families affected by cancer, such as; accommodation, transport assistance, psychosocial, emotional and practical support and more. They also provide awareness and education on childhood cancer and life-threatening blood disorders.

The staff that help keep things running at these facilities play such a wonderful role in bringing ease and comfort to families going through the biggest battles. They cook wholesome meals, drive children to treatment, provide a haven for recovery and offer a home away from home.

Each house is located close to local medical hospitals where children regularly undergo treatment. This is vital, especially for children coming from outside of town.

There are several CHOC houses around South Africa. Below are the details for each region.
