This is an SOS to make things better; gonna join our hands, come together!

Western Cape, South Africa (02 March 2022) – A 13-year-old just wrote a song to heal the world, which debuted to over 120 million people around the globe!

When Casey B Dolan phoned me to tell me about a song that her son had written and how South Africans like Zolani Mahola, originally from Freshly Ground – now known as “The One Who Sings”, Theo Crous from Springbok Nude Girls, the Khayelitsha Children’s choir and a group of AFDA alumni all joined hands to bring this project to life, I knew I had stumbled onto something incredible.

What I didn’t know at the time was that this beautiful song would debut to over 120 million people from all around the globe.

Casey explained that she had joined a movement spearheaded by Sadhguru, Dr Jane Goodall, Deepak Chopra and his holiness, the Dalai Lama, to champion a global project to address the soil crisis.

The “Save Soil” movement is bringing individuals, corporates and governments behind a common purpose to address the alarming crisis of Soil Extinction.

“Healthy soil is disappearing fast. Agriculture, deforestation, and other factors have degraded and eroded topsoil at alarming rates. Globally, 52% of agricultural land is already degraded. Much of what remains is stripped of organic matter resulting in dramatic declines in agricultural productivity of the soil. If this continues, the UN estimates that we could lose all cultivable soil in the next 60 years.”

Casey’s son, Quinley Wild, was so inspired by his mom’s passion for the earth that the 13-year-old decided he wanted to write a song for the movement – an idea that soon turned into a massive project.

“We were told that to produce a song, from its written inception to complete delivery with a professional music video, no budget and just the will for a better planet, in just three and a half weeks, was impossible,” Casey explained.

Due to the intense time constraints and exhaustingly busy schedules, this piece of music was created pro bono with the generosity of 5 studios, all recording or mixing what they could manage with busy schedules, three composers – one of which is a two time Grammy award-winning composer/producer, Robin Hogarth, the other Producer/ composer Theo Crous guitarist from Springbok Nude Girls 30 years in the business, the third Ross Rowley was the last to have the proverbial baton to complete the arrangement – and one of South Africa’s legendary singers ‘The One Who Sings’, who brought so much gravitas, heart and passion to the song.

Acclaimed international film director Amanda Evans led a team of AFDA alumni through a 3-day video shoot to create the music video with zero budget.

“All these professionals fell in love with the song and with Quins offering to the world, to Save Soil, and worked into the night, many nights to achieve the crazy schedule. The only people who were paid any money were the Khayelitsha Children’s choir. They are all at-risk youth between the ages of 12 to 16 years.

They were so excited, dedicated and disciplined; after a long day at school, they travelled in the evening to record and worked for hours without a single complaint, only smiles and willingness.

This song is truly filled with a heart for this movement and gratitude for the future we are trying to protect,” Casey said with pride.

The tight timeline was to get the song onto a live stream on the 1st of March called Mahashivaratri, where the Save Soil movement was being launched during a twelve-hour-all-night-long cultural and music festival that has a combined viewership, including more than twenty television channels across the globe, of more than 120 million viewers. For perspective, this audience is bigger than the grammies!

**UPDATE: As of Friday, the 4th of March 2022, an American Youtube account called “Prism” has put a false copyright claim on the song and video. Casey is working with Youtube to resolve this. We are hoping the video will be available soon.

Any money made from the song will be used to give back to the Earth, to essentially Save Soil. Quinley has also created a fundraiser to plant 10,000 trees.

They are just R10 a tree in a project that ensures farmers plant the trees and nurture them for the crops they yield. By shading the earth and the organic matter that lands in the form of leaves and fruit, the life in the soil can replenish as well as having root systems deep in the soil that retain water and deplete the risk of soil erosion.
